Profiles in Resistance: From Oakland to DC

Annie S is a poet who lives in Oakland and went to DC for a writer’s conference in February.

About a week after the inauguration, I spotted an apparently-spontaneous protest against the Muslim ban and the wall against Mexico.


A candlelight vigil was held in a park opposite the White House during the annual conference of the Association of  Writers and Writing Programs.  It was reported about a thousand people took part. (Washington DC, February 11, 2017)
